About the project

Școala Gimnazială „Ion Pop Reteganul” Reteag is the beneficiary of a grant from the National Programme for Reducing School Dropout (Programul Național pentru Reducerea Abandonului Școlar, PNRAS), for the project „Programul Național pentru Reducerea Abandonului Școlar la Școala Gimnazială «Ion Pop Reteganul» Reteag” (National Programme for Reducing School Dropout at “Ion Pop Reteganul” Lower Secondary School, Reteag). The financing contract is no. 10113 and was signed on 27 September 2022.

PNRAS is funded from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Planul Național de Redresare și Reziliență, PNRR) and supports schools with a high risk of early school leaving.

Information about the current status of the project will be published on this page. Until then, you can obtain it from the school office, by telephone on 0263 344 072 or by email at scoalaionpopreteganul@yahoo.com.

Objectives

The programme aims to achieve:

  • a reduction in the risk of early school leaving in the participating schools, so that at least a quarter of them move into a lower risk category by 2026;
  • better results in national assessments and more pupils completing lower secondary school;
  • higher participation in the National Assessment (Evaluarea Națională) at the end of the 8th grade and a higher rate of progression to upper secondary school.

For pupils and teachers, this means more learning time for pupils at risk of early school leaving, modern teaching methods, including digital ones, and a better climate in the school and in the classroom.

Expected results

On the project website, the school presented the expected results of the programme:

  1. a more effective school: less early school leaving and absenteeism, more pupils completing lower secondary school and taking part in the National Assessment in the 8th grade, fewer pupils with marks below 6 in this assessment;
  2. better teaching, learning and assessment: more teachers using digital tools and modern methods, for example personalised instruction, remedial programmes in small groups or technology-supported learning;
  3. better access to quality education for pupils from vulnerable groups;
  4. better cooperation between pupils, teachers, parents, school management, inspectors and the community;
  5. a better climate in the school and in the classroom;
  6. more instruction time for pupils at risk of early school leaving.

Activities

The procurement notices published by the school show which activities were carried out through the project:

  • hot meals for the participating children, two days a week, in the periods January – May 2023 and October 2023 – March 2024;
