What the parent counselling hour is
What the parent counselling hour is
Kindergarten teachers, primary teachers and form teachers have a set hour each week for meetings with parents. During this hour you can find out how your child is learning, how they behave at school and how you can support them at home.
The meeting is preferably one-to-one. At your request or the form teacher’s, the pupil may also take part.
How to book a meeting
How to book a meeting
- Contact your child’s kindergarten teacher, primary teacher or form teacher, directly or through the school office.
- Agree together on the day of the meeting, within the counselling hour in the schedule.
- If you cannot come at that time, ask for another time. Teachers will try to find a solution.
In exceptional situations, for example during epidemics or severe weather, meetings may also be held online.

Parents’ meetings
Parents’ meetings
In addition to the weekly hour, the form teacher holds meetings with all the parents of the class at the beginning and end of the school year and whenever needed. These meetings discuss general matters concerning the class. An individual pupil’s situation is discussed only privately, with their parents.
Further support
Further support
For questions that go beyond your child’s class, you can ask for a meeting with the head teacher. The office hours are on the Leadership page.
