Which documents set the rules

Day-to-day life at school follows three documents:

  • the Pupil’s Statute (Statutul elevului), approved by Order of the Minister of Education no. 5.707/2024, which sets out the rights and obligations of all pupils in the country;
  • the Framework Regulation on the organisation and operation of pre-university education institutions, approved by Order of the Minister of Education no. 5.726/2024, as subsequently amended;
  • the school’s Rules of Organisation and Operation (ROF) and the internal regulations, which adapt the general rules to our school’s situation.

The school’s regulations are published in the Documents section. The official texts of the Minister’s orders are published on edu.ro.

Good to know: At the start of the school year, the primary teacher or form teacher presents the school rules to pupils and parents. If anything is unclear, please ask.

Pupils’ rights

In brief, every pupil has the right:

  • to learn in a safe environment, free from violence, discrimination or humiliation;
  • to be treated with respect by classmates and by the adults at school;
  • to be assessed fairly and to know the criteria by which they are marked;
  • to ask for an explanation of a mark and to appeal it, under the conditions of the regulations;
  • to receive support when they have learning difficulties;
  • to take part in extracurricular activities, competitions and olympiads;
  • to express their opinion and to be represented through the Pupils’ Council.

Pupils’ obligations

Every pupil must:

  • attend lessons and arrive on time;
  • prepare for lessons and do their homework;
  • behave respectfully towards classmates, teachers and school staff;
  • follow the safety rules in the classroom, in the schoolyard and on the way to school;
  • keep the classrooms, furniture, textbooks and other school property clean and in good condition;
  • follow the school’s rules on the use of mobile phones during lessons.

Absences and excusing them

Attendance at lessons is compulsory. Absences are recorded in the class register and can be excused only on the basis of the documents provided for by the regulations (for example, a medical certificate or a request from the parent, within the set limits).

The documents must be handed to the primary teacher or form teacher within the deadline set by the regulations.

Important: Unexcused absences can lead to a lower conduct mark and can affect the award of scholarships. Please inform the primary teacher or form teacher as soon as possible when your child is absent.

Misconduct and sanctions

When a pupil breaks the rules, the school first tries to understand what happened and to put the situation right, together with the pupil and the family. The sanctions are those provided for by the Pupil’s Statute and are applied gradually, depending on the seriousness of the offence.

The parent is informed of any sanction. The pupil and the parent may appeal against the sanction, under the conditions of the Pupil’s Statute.

For situations involving violence or harassment, see the Safety and anti-bullying page.
